Meeting with the Minister of Preschool Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan and representatives of the US Embassy in Uzbekistan and Mercy Corps, Memorandum of Understanding with Mercy Corps, a non-profit organization, on the implementation of the Food for Security program

A memorandum of understanding was signed on July 27 between the Ministry of Preschool Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance and Public Health Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Uzbek branch of Mercy Corps. Within the framework of this memorandum, an exchange of views and agreements on cooperation in the field of child nutrition in preschool education was organized in Uzbekistan in the framework of the McGovern-Dole International Food Program (hereinafter – the Project).
This document is based on and coordinated with the concept of development of the preschool education system of the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2030. It should be noted that the Memorandum was developed in accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated November 10, 2020 No 4887 “On additional measures to ensure healthy nutrition” and the concept of health care development in 2019-2025.
It is known that one of the main tasks of the Ministry of Preschool Education is to develop and implement a unified state policy in the field. Mercy Corps, in partnership with the Ministry of Preschool Education, is working to improve the healthy eating conditions of children in public preschools.

The project, funded by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and implemented by Mercy Corps, was coordinated by various local, regional and national partners in line with and in line with existing government and development partner initiatives to support healthy eating.
During the event, the total cost of the project was 21 million soums. 705 thousand (twenty one million seven hundred five thousand) US dollars, and these figures can be changed by mutual agreement of the parties with the approval of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The Parties may directly, authorized partners and representatives of the Parties participate in the implementation of the project by agreement of the parties.
410 public preschools that need to improve their kitchen, water supply and sewerage infrastructure will be selected by MTV. As part of the McGovern-Doule International Food for Education program, Mercy Corps is partnering with ACTED (Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development) to improve kitchen, water supply and sanitation infrastructure in an additional 35 public preschools. These 35 state preschools will be selected by the Ministry of Preschool Education. The memorandum states that the grant agreement signed between Mercy Corps and ACTED is an integral part of the project.
